What kind of research do I conduct?
Depending on the range of issues to be resolved, document examination is divided into: document examinations are typically divided into: handwriting examination, which involves the analysis of handwritten texts, limited handwritten entries (both alphabetic and numeric), and signatures; technical examination of documents, which focuses on all other elements and attributes of a document.
A standard document assessment includes:
• Analysis of handwriting and signatures;
• Identification of the methods used to create document elements;
• Detection of alterations or manipulations in the document.
The analysis of copies is often necessary, as original documents are frequently unavailable or have been destroyed.

My professional career in the field of forensic science has lasted for over 15 years. From the first steps in a state expert institution to teaching and research, each stage is based on experience, trust and the pursuit of truth.
Education
• 2006 — received Specialist’s Degree of Law, The National Academy of Internal Affairs• 2024 — Master's Degree in the educational Programme Intellectual Property, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology.
Leadership and management experience
• 2020–2023 — Head of the Criminalistics Laboratory at the Dnipropetrovsk Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, where I led a team of experts and introduced innovative forensic methodologies.
Starting a professional career
• 2009 р. — Began working as a Senior Researcher in the Criminalistics Laboratory at the Dnipropetrovsk Research Institute of Forensic Expertise under the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.Passed qualification exams and obtained the right to conduct forensic examinations in the following specializations:

Educational and practical activities
• Since 2023, I have been a lecturer in the course “Forensic Expertise” and Head of the Legal Clinic at Alfred Nobel University, Dnipro.• I also authored the course "Document Examination: Practical Experience", aimed at legal professionals who wish to skillfully apply forensic expertise in their legal practice.

What documents must be submitted for handwriting and signature examination?
To conduct a forensic handwriting examination, the following materials should be provided:
• The questioned document (preferably the original; if unavailable, a certified copy may be acceptable).
• Known handwriting and/or signature samples (referred to as exemplars) of the individual who is allegedly the author of the questioned entries. Requested handwriting samples.
• Any relevant background information that may influence the interpretation of findings — for example, health-related data, age, writing habits, or other case-related context.What are the samples for handwriting and signature examination?
In forensic handwriting examination, two primary types of known (exemplar) samples are used:• Requested handwriting samples. These are obtained under controlled conditions, typically by asking the individual to reproduce dictated or copied texts in the presence of an authorised official (e.g. expert, investigator, or judge).• Course of business handwriting samples. These are naturally written documents created during the individual’s everyday activities before the initiation of proceedings.
What is the duration of the examination?
The term depends on the complexity of the study, the number of objects and the scope of the tasks. The term for conducting an expert examination is specified in clause 1.13 and clause 15.
Is the document damaged during the examination?
No, documents are not damaged during handwriting and technical examination. Non-destructive examination methods are used, including inspection, microscopy, photographic fixation, infrared and ultraviolet radiation, etc. The original document remains in its original state.
What is making changes to the original content of the document?
An alteration is any change made to a document after its original creation. This may include additions, deletions, overwriting, erasures, or page substitution. Forensic examination can detect such alterations and help determine how they were made.
Can the expert answer the question whether the disputed document is forged?
No. A forensic expert does not determine whether a document is a forgery. The expert can assess whether the handwriting or signature matches known samples, and whether any alterations were made to the original content.
